When we first started packing to move to Brooklyn, I didn't think I would want or need my Christmas decorations...so like an idiot, I left them all in Springville.
Feeling like a Grinch, I decided to go to a ghetto dollar store and buy some festive stuff that I wouldn't feel horrible about throwing away.

This lovely little 4.5 foot tree is probably the only thing that will survive considering we have ZERO storage. |
Look how festive my animals are!
(You can imagine how much Edgar loves his bow)
I took full advantage of living in New York to do all of my Christmas shopping
On the 14th of December I had the bright idea to go into the city to finish up my shopping list.
It happened to be the day it decided to snow A LOT.
This was when I left in the early afternoon at our subway stop:
I went up to the southeast corner of Central Park by the Plaza Hotel and saw this beautiful sight:
To give you a "before"shot, this was taken the day after Thanksgiving:
I was in a 'Home Alone 2: Lost in New York' kind of mood, so I decided to go inside The Plaza Hotel
Across from The Plaza is the FAO Schwarz, the oldest toy store in the US (1862).
I absolutely LOOOVED this place.
It's normal for a 25 year old to get excited over stuffed animals.
Obviously this section made my shopping for Bryant considerably easier:
If I would have had a spare hour to wait in line, I would have just so I could play Heart & Soul on "The BIG Piano"
After spending WAAAY too much time in the greatest toy store EVER, I wandered on the Upper East Side and found "The Dog Store."
Like a fool, I thought I could find something for Willis.
These collars? $150/piece
These coats? They start at $250!!!
(They also only carried clothing for dogs under 25 pounds. Which is obviously weight discrimination.)
Ironically enough, I saw this dog on the subway on my way home and he made my night.
This was what our terrace looked like when I got home that night:
And like a big pushover, I gave the animals their toys.
(I ended up getting the cat and the dog at FAO. How could I not?)
And I'm convinced that Willis moonlights as a dog model.
(Is that NOT his identical twin on the box?!)
And Edgar couldn't care less about his cat-twin.
On the 18th Bry and I went to Rockefeller Plaza to see the gorgeous Christmas tree!
On the 21st we decided to open our Christmas presents from each other since we were flying to Utah the next day.
I was just impressed with Bryant's wrapping.

To his defense, he did a great job on all the other gifts, he just ran out of paper on this one... |
We are now JUICE PEOPLE!
(Please watch my favorite Brian Regan clip so you'll understand my lame reference.)
Bryant went to Tiffany's on 5th Avenue and found the most adorable (and sentimental) cups!
(I love all the NYC landmarks on them!)
And at Macy's on 34th Street they engrave your perfume bottle!
The gift Bryant was most excited about?
His Miami Dynasty banner...
That night I was REALLY wanting some Junior's Cheesecake, and we hadn't visited the original location in Brooklyn before, so at 11:30 PM we hopped on the G train and went!
I also had my first "Egg Cream," which is chocolate syrup, milk, and seltzer.
It changed my life. And made me gain at least 10 pounds.
And I also got a slice of the best dessert on earth, the Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake.
I know the look you're giving me...
IT'S CHRISTMAS, DANG IT!
Downtown Brooklyn is MUCH quieter than Manhattan at midnight.
On Sunday, the 22nd we enjoyed beautiful, amazing weather before our flight to the frozen tundra.
Willis was thrilled to chase lots of squirrels on his walk to "Happy Dogs at McCarren Park" where we board him.
Our flight left JFK at 7:30 PM and we arrived in Salt Lake around 11:00 PM.
Once we got our luggage, I noticed our bag was ripped open at the top.
Yours truly got Delta to give us a free replacement bag.
(Be impressed.)
Christmas Eve we went to my parents house in Weston for some amazing food and festivities.
(And chaos. Lots of chaos.)
Here are all of the grandbabies!
ELEVEN OF THEM!!
(And of course they're the world's cutest!)
And when you don't have human babies, Grandma Ramona spoils your animal babies!
The two most handsome guys I know.
(Love them to pieces!)
And finally, please notice that my brother is literally drugging his children on Christmas Eve.
*Parent of the Year*
CHRISTMAS MORNING!!!
We slithered out of bed at Bry's parents around 9:00 am and opened gifts with his entire extended family.
(All 6 of them, with us it makes 8.)
Wayne became engulfed in wrapping paper and boxes...
...which Bryant and I eagerly burned in the fire pit that night.
While in Logan we were able to spend some much needed family time, as well as visit some great friends and finally be able to hold their darling babies!
We flew out of Salt Lake on Friday the 27th at 5:15 pm and arrived at JFK around 11:30 pm.
Josie laughed at me before she flew out to visit when I told her about three different times to beware of the vultures around the baggage claim who try to convince you to get in their sketchy cab.
During the walk from baggage claim to the line for the legit NYC Cab line, I had at least 12 guys try to get in front of me and say, "Taxi? You need taxi? Come! I get you taxi! Good price! Come! Come!"
UGGGH! NO!
Below you can see them all trying to block people from getting in the NYC Cab line.
Out.Of.Control.
But we made it back to Brooklyn in one piece to find Edgar alive and well in the apartment and Willis was SUPER excited to see us Saturday morning when we picked him up.
Merry Christmas 2013!
