Stupid Pinterest

So maybe I was just a little obstinate. Maybe I didn't want to be a bandwagon jumper. Maybe I didn't want to have one more thing to be addicted to. So going against my better judgment...

I joined Pinterest.

(Ugh. I hate admitting it.)

The first item that I fell in love with was this Pumpkin Wreath.

(It sells for around $100 on Williams-Sonoma's site)

My re-creation:
Total I probably spent between $25-30 at Hobby Lobby getting all the stuff I needed. (The Reindeer Moss and Spray Adhesive were the pricey items.) I'm still considering getting darker ribbon for the bow...

Stay tuned for more arts & crafts...

Help Wanted!!

Alright people. If anyone actually reads my blog, I need some serious input.

I have a hair appointment next Tuesday and (like every hair appointment I have) I'm ready for a change. This is where you (yes you!) need to give me some honest input.

My hair color is still on the brown side, but I've always loved Jennifer Aniston's color. (See below) Too blonde for me?

I was pretty obsessed with the "Ombre" or "Melting" trend earlier this year, but when I did it the first time I didn't think it was very dramatic. So should I take it a step further and go this dark? Or does it just look like I was too lazy to keep up on my coloring?
And I'm totally and completely obsessed with the A-Line cut. I'd love to do it to my hair right now, but I want a long A-line so I need to keep working on growing out my bangs, which takes FOREVER.

Or should I forget growing out my bangs and go back to the straight across cut like I did a while back? (See below)

So PLEASE comment below. (You don't have to leave a name or anything, I just want some honest feedback.)

Thank you. Come again.

BY-Who?!

In case anyone didn't already know, Bryant's baby sister Cami plays soccer for BYU.

(She's awesome. We love her to pieces!---So does Willis)

If anyone knows my husband, you'll know how much he *doesn't like* BYU. He really *doesn't like* them. To this day I'm still surprised he mustered up the strength to endure 3 years of Law School in Utah County. (If he could have his way, we'd live in Logan and he'd commute. Seriously.)

So last week BYU had a home game versus Cal State Fullerton. (The games are actually pretty fun to attend, so long as we sit in the "parent section".) On average they have 4,000+ in attendance at each game.

So after Bryant and I went through the gate we were walking in front of the student section and stopped to get a program. The guy handing them out looked at Bryant's shirt and said, "Well you have the right color on, but that's the wrong city and sport!"

(It was a blue LOGAN RIVER GOLF COURSE shirt!!)

My sweet husband responded, "Why would I wear a BYU shirt? I don't like BYU!"--He didn't say this quietly either...I was mortified. (I don't like BYU either, but I'm not obstinate enough to say that in front of their fans!)

The BYU guy immediately grabbed the program from my hand as Bryant walked away.

He quickly asked me, "So what team are you guys rooting for?"

My response: "Uh...his sister plays for BYU so we cheer for her."

And now for some zingers courtesy of the BYU students we were forced to sit by:

"I want to polygamy that girl!"

"If I were a soccer player I think I'd run around making engine noises as I ran. BRRRRRRRRM! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM! BRRRRRRRRRRRM!"

And now the most random one:

"Do you know what's AMAZING? Life!"

It's A Small World...

My parents finally decided to get a dog to replace Dewey!
(My mom was against it for a while but she caved when my dad said, "I really miss Dewey. I hate going for walks and not having my buddy with me.")--Who wouldn't cave after that?

They didn't want to deal with all that goes with having a puppy so they started looking at older dogs. Monday night my mother stumbled upon an 18 month old Labrador Retriever in Provo. My dad had meetings in Salt Lake City today so he figured he could drive down, stop by Stevens-Henager and pick me up and check out the dog.

Once we arrived I immediately recognized the couple: Two of my students that I enrolled at Stevens-Henager (Kim & Mary)! Anyway, my dad really liked "Charley". He was super sweet with the family he was with and he really liked my dad.

So the next obstacle was the 2&1/2 hour drive home that my dad had to deal with. My dad obviously couldn't throw Charley in the bed of his truck driving on I-15 so that meant that he'd have to go IN THE CAB. This may not sound like a big deal to most of you, but my dad FREAKS if the animals get on or near his truck, so now my dad was going to let a dog ride IN his truck for 2 & 1/2 HOURS!! (Bishop Buttars has turned into a big softy in his old age) :)

My dad stopped half way home to let Charley stretch his legs. He slithered out of his collar and ran a lap around the park they were at. (My dad commented that he thought Charley was gone for sure.) After the lap Charley came right back to my dad and laid down at his feet.

I'm super excited that my dad now has a "Walking Buddy" again!!

K.A.L.

I was fortunate enough to grow up with two cousins that are basically the same age as me--Three if you count Dane- but he's a boy :)

I was born September 20, 1988
Kirstin was born October 29, 1988
Lauren was born April 21, 1989
Dane was born May 15, 1989

Here you'll find the three of us on my dad's back at the Annual Buttars Christmas Eve Party

Our Grandma Buttars would always make us matching PJ's to wear on Christmas. (Please notice my lovely bangs that I chopped off.)
Here is one of my favorite pictures: Me, Kirstin, Lauren, and Dane. (Again...I have lovely bangs.)
Playing T-Ball...somewhere around 1994ish
The three of us at mine and Lauren's Cross Country Match in Preston. (Lauren smoked me!)
And here we are on my wedding day! I was the first to take the plunge!
September 12, 2009
Next was Kirstin!
June 18, 2011
And now Lauren!
August 13, 2011
Bryant and Mark LOVE weddings!
Look at that excitement!
And here we have everyone with their spouses(Left to Right): Mark & Kirstin Shepard, Kurt & Lauren Hansen, Bryant & Alexis Jensen
It's crazy to think that not that long ago we would sit in one of the bedrooms at our Grandma Buttars' house and make "radio broadcasts" of K.A.L. Radio.
Now we're all old and married!

Love you girlies!

Word To The Wise

Allow me to tell you about my lunch hour today...

My sweet little husband told me I could go get a pedicure (mostly because I kept whining when I stubbed my toe and broke off a good chunk of the nail).

So I finally decided that today was when I was going to get one. I would have gone after work, but it's always super crowded at that time. So I, being the genius that I am, decided to go on my lunch hour. The lady that was giving me the pedicure was super sweet and did a great job, but she was sloooow. (It didn't help that "Soul Surfer" was playing on their TV so she kept turning around to watch it.)

The second that she was done I told her I had to go so I wasn't late for work. (She apologized about 200 times for not going faster. "So sorry! So Sorry! So Sorry!") As soon as I paid I (very awkwardly) sprinted out to my car and as I was getting in I scrapped the paint off my big toe!!!

GURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

At this point I had zero time to waste so I just got in the car and drove away, mumbling angry things as I went.

The next problem is the awkward location. It took some maneuvering to get out of the parking lot, then I went to the dumbest intersection of all time. (For those of you who know Provo, it's the one by Zupas-where Freedom Blvd meets with University Parkway) Anyway, once I got to the intersection about to turn left...I realized I forgot my phone on the chair! BAHHH!!

The spot where I was at didn't allow me to just make a U-Turn. I had to turn right and drive down around a car dealership, then weasel my way back to the salon to get my blasted phone. (I really considered having the lady fix that toe while I was there, but I knew that would add at least 10 minutes to my already expired time.

Maybe it was Karma from the Work Gods? Who knows...but I definitely won't be trying that again!

Hummingbird & Cooper

This last Saturday I was feeling super productive.

I made the dreaded trip to Ikea (on a SATURDAY) to buy some window coverings for my kitchen and a lamp for my livingroom. Once I got home I realized that I could no longer put off re-painting my coffee table. (I painted it before we moved to Utah County, but it got worked over during the move, plus Willis has used the legs as chew toys more than a couple times.)

So I hauled the table into the garage and while I was out there, a hummingbird was flying around trapped inside. I went and told Bryant to go get it out and his immediate reaction was, "Ooh! Let's take Edgar out there! He'd love it!"...So Bryant took the cat outside and neither Bryant nor Edgar could catch the bird, even standing on Bryant's car.

(This is what I deal with)

Last night Willis was being a little too hyper, so I made Bryant take him on a walk at 10:00 PM. I got a text a few minutes later from Bryant telling me to walk over to the park just south of our house. (My first thought was that Willis had escaped...) Once I arrived I found Bryant chatting with one of our neighbors while Willis ran laps with their Labradoodle, Cooper. I had always assumed that Willis was speedy. Oh no. He's quite slow. And lazy. In fact, after 10 minutes of trying to keep up with Cooper, he eventually came back and laid down by our feet. Once we took him home he went straight to his water, drank the whole bowl, then laid on the floor and panted for the next hour.

Poor, lazy mutt.
