It's A Small World...

My parents finally decided to get a dog to replace Dewey!
(My mom was against it for a while but she caved when my dad said, "I really miss Dewey. I hate going for walks and not having my buddy with me.")--Who wouldn't cave after that?

They didn't want to deal with all that goes with having a puppy so they started looking at older dogs. Monday night my mother stumbled upon an 18 month old Labrador Retriever in Provo. My dad had meetings in Salt Lake City today so he figured he could drive down, stop by Stevens-Henager and pick me up and check out the dog.

Once we arrived I immediately recognized the couple: Two of my students that I enrolled at Stevens-Henager (Kim & Mary)! Anyway, my dad really liked "Charley". He was super sweet with the family he was with and he really liked my dad.

So the next obstacle was the 2&1/2 hour drive home that my dad had to deal with. My dad obviously couldn't throw Charley in the bed of his truck driving on I-15 so that meant that he'd have to go IN THE CAB. This may not sound like a big deal to most of you, but my dad FREAKS if the animals get on or near his truck, so now my dad was going to let a dog ride IN his truck for 2 & 1/2 HOURS!! (Bishop Buttars has turned into a big softy in his old age) :)

My dad stopped half way home to let Charley stretch his legs. He slithered out of his collar and ran a lap around the park they were at. (My dad commented that he thought Charley was gone for sure.) After the lap Charley came right back to my dad and laid down at his feet.

I'm super excited that my dad now has a "Walking Buddy" again!!
